As the holiday season begins, we went on a quest for toys that will inspire kids to try something new and challenge them to get more active. We found some incredibly fun toys that will have die hard video gamers and adventurers begging to get out to play. We included a mix of indoor and outdoor toys. These will help your kids hone their climbing, jumping, balance, agility and throwing skills while burning some energy. These picks are ideal for multiple age groups and may even encourage the whole family to create new memories that instill a life-long love of play.

On October 29 and 30, 2016, Reimagine Play unveiled its “Pop-up Playground” exhibit at the Boston Public Schools’ BuildBPS Open House held at the Bruce Bolling Municipal Building in Roxbury, MA. Welcome Back to School and to the lovely Fall weather. Reimagine Play had such a busy summer that we thought to share all we have been up to and what’s next.
The new school year is now in full swing and parents and children alike are transitioning to a new routine. The laid back summer lifestyle is slowly being replaced with homework and after school activities. A seemingly endless list of events, tryouts and signups are filling the top of parents' to do lists. After all, school usually means more sitting time for our children and less time for free, unstructured play.
Summer is coming to an end and the count down for our children’s’ return to school has begun. While summer camps have already ended, your kids' energy level surely hasn't. Parents don't fear--there is a really fun way to entertain the kids while also giving you, and your budget, a break. Enter parent run summer camps!
The state of Play is about to change in Boston. In July, Reimagine Play was named a finalist in KaBoom!’s Play Everywhere Challenge, a $1 million national competition that will award out-of-the-box ideas to make play easy, available, and fun for kids and families - especially those who lack access to safe, stimulating places today. KaBOOM! is the national non-profit dedicated to bringing balanced and active play into the daily lives of all kids, particularly those growing up in poverty in America.

Some kids are natural thrill seekers. They love climbing fences, jumping over walls, lifting what’s in the way and even running through mud puddles. If your child is an obstacle lover, an extreme obstacle course race or mud run may be a way to hone their skills and win a few medals for effort. My 10 year old daughter recently began doing obstacle races and is now an OCR enthusiast. Obstacle course races for kids often include a scaled down run and a variety of obstacles that put their endurance to the test. They are a great way to get kids active and teach them mental and physical fortitude at an early age.
